We all have our own idea of what a perfect day would look like. For some, it may be a day at the beach, for others a hike in the woods, and for others it may be a successful day at work. Whatever your perfect day looks like, being in the best-of-health, should be at the top of the list.
All of the above can't be perfect days if you're unhealthy.
So, let's see what this entails.
Your Perfect Day
You wake up feeling refreshed; not tired. Why? Because everything you did the day before contributed to and led up to getting a restful nights sleep.
First thing upon waking, you have a conscious gratitude and appreciation for a new day and all the wonderful opportunities it holds for YOU. Just by doing this you've lowered your blood pressure and positively affected your parasympathetic nervous system. This actually affects your hypothalamus, a region which controls several mechanisms; appetite and food perception being among them.
Next, you drink a cup of warm water with lemon, and possibly add some other ingredients which have a profound affect on your detoxification pathways and metabolism. By this simple one act, you are powerfully augmenting your body to do what it's supposed to do: flush fats and toxins out of your body so you run like a clean machine. You then go outside for a few minutes and take in a few breathes of fresh air. The fresh air grounds you, aligning you to the moment. Time-permitting there are other things you can add to this list, including meditation, prayer, and journalling.
Engaging in a physical activity whether going to the gym or going for a run or fast walk outside, is definitely part of a perfect day. By doing so you are increasing your metabolic rate, exercising the largest muscle in your body - your heart, growing neurons, releasing happy endorphins, and a myriad of other benefits.
The perfect day will see you eating the right quantities of macro and micro nutrients; eating the perfect ratio of protein, healthy fats, and healthy carbohydrates, mainly in the form of vegetables and a few fruits, mainly berries. In fact, with this healthy way of eating if you need to lose weight, you will. And if you need to maintain weight you will. Because of your right choices, your body's innate wisdom about what to eat and when to eat will be your guide throughout the day.
